sideeffects
i'm out of stanford as of 5:30 PM. for the last month I've had a Foley Catheter, to deal with bladder weakness resulting from my the neuropathology just last night we removed it to test to see if things were back online and functionioning independently. worked for a little bit although it seems that having a tube in your penis for extended periods of time confuses you sence of if you are peeing or not. They warned me that things would get wacky, turns out that it may feel like you're going to go pee. but what is really about to happen is an epic fart with back fire. call the nurse and the laundry!... Then at 3 AM abdominal pain the like I've never felt before. Call the Crisis nurse for an emergency blader scan. find over 1L full of urine hiding out. danger to the body. Reinsert cathiter quickly. I WILL be shooting insolin for the short term till they get the chemo related steroids out of my system. No one ever said anything about diabedies as side effect.

Oh that process...I had to do that because my bladder was very weak as a kid. They were checking to see if I had a hole in it with the whole ultrasound set up. worse feelings do not exist for that feeling of being full tilt. The tube wasn't too bad, but the rest of the work had me in tears of having to go.

All it took to feel better about it was an Archie comic and corn-nuts after. :P

Enough steroids will make anyone need insulin shots. Thankfully, the need for the insulin generally goes away when the steroids do.
Hang in there!

Whew! Glad to hear it. Hopefully it will just go away when the steroids do. :)

damn sean. thats a lot of stuff to keep track of. you must have a strongbrain to even be able to remember MOST of it. i wouldnt feel bad bout forgetting a few things about your treatment... its to be expected with non-stop activity.

i really hope you are getting a chance to chill out and relax. although i know it can be hard to relax when your body is going through chancges at a rate that may seem like it cant be matched by the regeneration.

i have strange beliefs about pain being something that we have to let ourselves feel in order ro heal. our minds direct our conciousness to where our body needs help. a lot of pain meds have been known to stunt that natural process...

it seems like you are staying very educated on whats going on with your treatment, i think thats really important. the doctors are a big part, but as big of a part as your will.

having theripists that make you feel any negative emotions about yourself or yor situation doesn't sound like something that i would consider benifitial... i can understand the idea of being realistic and its importance. keeping positive and having a sense of happiness for me is what keeps my illness down. i know lots of people that admittedly only get sick when they are feeling down. you reserve the right to fire your theripist and get a new one! and if you ever want to chat i would love to catch up with you ;-)

let me know if you are on IM, keep your pretty little head up ;-P

I don't think it applies, but interesting nonetheless: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080411/hl_afp/ushealthcancer_080411080618;_ylt=AgUiaB2PymUO.9o58EoGpDIE1vAI
